How have the arts, culture, and/or humanities impacted your life?
Answer: When I was at the AIDS foundation, we were struggling with how to get education in the school system around HIV. We developed a state-wide annual poster art contest for school kids and we coordinated with health and art teachers all around the state - setting up a competition. We gave cash prizes and we provided a theme. Some of the most incredible posters came out of that project. It was a great example to me about how you could incorporate a controversial topic into a school system using art. I saw first-hand how art could be used to broaden someone's world.
