The Salt Lake Symphony presents John William's "Overture to The Cowboys" with Side-by-Side High School musicians, Ginastera's "Estancia" and Copland's Symphony No. 3. Assistant Conductor Matthew Makeever and Gerald Elias will be our Guest Conductors.

From the gauchos of Argentina to some of the most sweeping symphonic notes ever composed, we’re travelling to the New World for our November Concert. John William's exhilarating Overture to "The Cowboys" will open the program with select side-by-side high school players. Alberto Ginastera’s energetic Estancia. Now considered a standard of the orchestral repertoire, the work was one of the first to introduce the rhythms and melodies from South America to a wider audience. The evening will be capped off with what many consider to be the finest ever symphony by an American composer, the Symphony No. 3 by Aaron Copland  Though non-programmatic, the work nonetheless reminds the listeners of the broad vistas and powerful stories of the American narrative. It’s an immersive experience that simply must be experienced in person! Assistant Conductor Matthew Makeever and Gerald Elias will be our Guest Conductors.
