Utah Cultural Alliance is honored to partner with Utah Museums Association on Museums Day on the Hill. This year, we’ve updated the format so you can curate your Museum Advocacy Day experience. Choose your Own Advocacy Adventure! Registration is required to attend. Education Track
Registration deadline: January 11, 2019
This track focuses on spotlighting museum offerings and networking in the Capitol Rotunda. You will have a display table and the chance to learn about other organizations and share your knowledge with legislators and school children alike! Space for this track is limited, as there is only so much room on the Rotunda floor.

Timeline
8:00 am-8:30 am      Check-in, load-in, and set up museum display tables
8:45 am-1:00 pm      Network with your fellow participants and chat up Capitol visitors
1:00 pm-1:30 pm      Load-out

Advocacy Track
Registration deadline: January 22, 2019
This track focuses on meeting with legislators and discussing the importance of continued support to the Museum community. During the Advocacy Meeting there will be a short training and you will get to work together with other individuals in your legislator's district to solidify talking points. This track is for attendees who want to learn the ropes of advocacy and meet with legislators directly. UMA will reach out to schedule group meetings with the legislators.

Would you be willing to serve as a legislative captain? If so please contact [email protected]. Duties of a Legislative Captain:

  • UCA assigns you 2-4 legislators
  • Reach out to legislator or their staff to schedule meetings on January 29th with museums day attenders who are their constituents
  • Shepherd museums day attenders who are constituents of your legislators throughout the day
  • Lead meeting with legislators
  • YOU MUST ATTEND A UCA LEG CAPTAIN TRAINING (2 hours)
  • YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT MUSUMS DAY 8:30am-3pm

We invite Museums Day attendees to also attend our dinner with legislators the night before Arts Day: February 20th at 6pm, Little America. Click here to purchase a ticket. This will be an incredible opportunity to get FaceTime with lawmakers.
