Preschool Discovery Days - The Shape of Nature
Choose a date and time:
Wednesday, March 1 or Thursday, March 2
9:30 am, 11 am or 1 pm
$5 members / $6 nonmembers
$5 per child for preschool groups of 5 or more
For ages 3-5 and their accompanying adults
Join us as we explore shapes in nature! Circles, triangles and squares can be found in lots of animals and plants. Explore the trails with a naturalist in search of shapes, play games, sing songs and create some fun shape art. Dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will only be accepted when space is available.  Classes may be canceled due to low attendance.  Please call 801-621-7595for more information and to register.
 
Wild Wednesdays: Signs of Spring

Spring has arrived at the Ogden Nature Center!  Help us bring in the new season as we learn how animals and plants adapt to warmer temperatures and longer days.  Join us as we hit the trails looking for signs of spring.  Be prepared to hear Chorus Frogs and keep an eye out for migrating birds.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Wild Wednesdays: Crazy and Curious Corvids

Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist for a Wild Wednesday program focused on some of the smartest groups of birds in our world—the corvids.  Listen to a true tale about a special raven and then meet the Ogden Nature Center’s most curious and playful raven, Cronk. Please meet in the Visitor Center. 
 
Make a Joyful Noise Children’s Concert
Saturday, March 11 
10:45 am – 12 pm
Cost: $3 for members / $5 for non-members
Ages: 2+
Long winter days getting you down? Ready for springtime to arrive already? Come and get your wiggles out! Let’s make a joyful noise at the Ogden Nature Center with local singer-songwriter, teacher, and former ONC naturalist, Cheyenne Herland. We will enjoy traditional favorites as well as original song, dance, and play-a-longs. We’ll even create noise maker crafts to take home. Admission price is per child ages 2 and up.  At least one adult chaperone is required to attend with each family group. Space is limited, so call 801-621-7595 to reserve your spot.
 
Paint your Favorite Mountain
Saturday, March 11
1 – 3 pm
Cost: $20 members / $25 nonmembers
Ages: 16+
You know that favorite mountain you’re always gazing longingly at? Let’s paint it! Join accomplished local artist and educator Erica Lyon for a special watercolor workshop. Erica will teach the basics of watercolor and pen work to create two paintings: a mountain scene and a grove of aspen trees. Bring digital or printed photos of your favorite mountains from which to work. All supplies are included. Space is limited, so call 801-621-7595 to reserve your spot. Wild Wednesdays: Going Green - A Special St. Patrick’s Day Program

Green is the theme for the Ogden Nature Center’s St. Patrick’s Day program.  Once again it’s time to get your green on and discover why so many things in nature are green.  Go on a scavenger hunt around the Nature Center searching for all things green.  You’ll be amazed at what you can find!  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Scout Saturdays
Saturday, March 18
$5 per scout per 45 minute class
Have our teacher naturalists help your scout pass off badge requirements on Scout Saturdays at the Nature Center.
Classes include: 
“Native vs Invasive Plants” from 9-9:45 am
“Conservation” from 10-10:45 am
“Venomous Reptiles” from 11-11:45 am
Reservation and a non-refundable deposit required.

It’s Time To Build Birdhouses! Birdhouse Competition and Exhibit
Are you feeling woodsy, crafty, wild, sleek, modern, sustainable or colorful?  Now is the time to get out your supplies, let the creativity flow, and start building birdhouses.  Entries are due March 20-25 at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St., Ogden. There is no entry fee.  Birdhouses selected for the exhibit will be displayedApril 15 through June 24.  Winners will receive awards onApril 12 at 5:30 pm at the Ogden Nature Center.  All types of birdhouses are welcome: whimsical, beautiful, practical, functional, artistic or magical – but they need to be sturdy! Wild Wednesdays: Birds Not Bunnies

Spring is the season for new birth. But bunnies don’t lay eggs? Have some spring time fun as we learn about nesting birds in Utah. We will teach you some tricks to identify eggs, and what to do if you find a baby bird out of the nest.  End your day with an egg hunt of a different kind. Search for hidden nests along our trail and try your hand at identifying the parents. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Wild Wednesdays: Beavers- the Brilliant Builders

No other wild animal changes their environment more than the beaver.  From dams, canals, and lodges, beaver create a habitat that suits their needs. Join us on a hike to learn about beaver adaptations and explore examples of their construction skills.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
