Job Posting: Joomla Developer

Utah Humanities, a nonprofit organization located in Salt Lake City, Utah is looking for a contract/freelance Joomla developer to work with our team on an as-needed, hourly basis. This position allows for working remotely, but will require some in-person meetings.

We are looking for someone who can use their extensive knowledge of extensions and templates to help maintain and potentially further develop our site using already created, and sometimes customized, solutions. You will be working with a small team of humanities professionals to maintain and develop an existing website for deeper content and functionality. Responsibilities Work with the Communications Director to maintain website, run Joomla updates, troubleshoot problems, and potentially address additional development projects Stay current and knowledgeable on Joomla updates, module changes, etc. Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle for potentially large web development projects Follow industry best practices for web development and Joomla content management Requirements Proven experience in web content management systems, specifically Joomla CMS Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, Javascript Good knowledge of relational databases (specifically, Filemaker) version control tools and of developing web services Experience in common third-party APIs (Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) Familiarity with Omeka is highly desirable. Omeka is a free, open source content management system for online digital collections. As a web application, it allows users to publish and exhibit cultural heritage objects, and extend its functionality with themes and plugins.
