The first ever Park City Monster Drawing Rally will celebrate our community's local visual artists, building on a model developed by Southern Exposure, a San Francisco nonprofit arts organization. On June 1st, groups of creatives will paint, draw, collage, and illustrate in real time in 50 minute segments. All work made onsite will be immediately for sale for a flat fixed price of $50. Participants will have the opportunity to spy on the creative process, grow their art collections, and get to know our artist community. Food, live music, and cash bar are part of the fun.

ORIGINAL WRITING
Deadline: June 23 Writing Competition
Since 1958, the Utah Original Writing Competition has awarded Utah writers for works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry in a variety of forms. The competition’s mission is to aid Utah writers on their path to publication and broader recognition. Submissions must be original works and, with some exceptions, cannot be published or accepted for publication at the time of entry. Manuscripts are reviewed in a blind process by judges selected from outside of Utah. There is no entry fee, and it is open to all Utah residents age 18 and over. 2017 submission guidelines are available here. |

The Design Arts Program sponsors an annual juried exhibition of Utah designers from a broad range of media and practice. The annual exhibition coincides with Salt Lake Design Week and Salt Lake Gallery Stroll at the Rio Gallery in Salt Lake City. These exhibitions support excellent design and designers in Utah while showcasing their work and demonstrating the intricate and arduous process to achieve exemplary design in any field. The Designer selected as the Juror’s Award Winner receives a $3,000 award. |

The Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise were established in 2009 as a complement to the Vilcek Prizes, to encourage and support young immigrants who have already demonstrated exceptional achievements, and who often face significant challenges early in their careers. UTAH MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART

The UMOCA Artist-in-Residence Program is the only long-term artist residency designed specifically to meet the needs of artists living in Utah. Utah artists will be selected primarily based on demonstrated artistic potential, commitment to working in a contemporary idiom, willingness to participate in a robust and intellectually-engaged community of artists, and readiness to devote the time necessary to advance their professional careers to the next level. The June deadline is for artists interested the residency cycle beginning February 1st of the following calendar year.
UMOCA residents will receive a wide variety of benefits from the museum, including 6 months of free studio space inside the museum itself. UMOCA will also provide residents with private meetings with national curators, critics, and other art world professionals who will be brought to UMOCA specifically to give our residents opportunities for higher visibility inside and outside the state. In addition, UMOCA will support residents by offering workshops in professional development, special access to visiting artists and lecturers, and an exhibition in the A.I.R. Space Gallery at the culmination of their residency. |

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is accepting applications for its 2018-2019 Fellowship Program. Through the program, stipends of up to $77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses will be awarded to individuals working in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics to pursue projects within their fields. In addition, some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. Each of the more than 850 fellows who have been in residence at the Radcliffe Institute has pursued an independent project, but the collaborative experience unites all of them. Scholars, scientists, and artists work on individual projects, or in clusters, to generate new research, publications, art, and more. |
