2023 Legislative Dinner
The 2023 Legislative Dinner was a spectacular night filled with the magic of the cultural industry. Over 245 attendees, with roughly 60 legislators attending, enjoyed a delightful dinner and opportunity to mingle. The night finished with a beautiful presentation of dance, musical, and theatrical performances, where we also presented our Cultural Industry Advocate award Senate President Adams for his astounding support of the Utah cultural industry.
2023 Cultural Industry Advocacy Day
The 2023 Cultural Industy Advocacy Day was an overwhelming success with 262 attendees representing industry from all across the state in the arts, film, humanities, libraries, entertainment, museums, and STEM. Legislators and capitol visitors also got to experience a wide variety of hands-on activities in the Capitol Rotunda. Those in attendance also got the opportunity to further foster positive relationships with elected officials by delivering Cultural Champion Awards to legislators who voted in favor of our policy agenda during the 2022 session as well as attend a press conference featuring President Adams and Speaker Wilson speaking to the Utah cultural industry’s economic impact in 2021.
2023 Arts Leadership and Advocacy Seminar
From February 12 - 15, UCA joined roughly 84 delegates representing 13 western states and pacific jurisdictions at the Arts Leadership and Advocacy Seminar hosted by the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF). We learned about recent trends in federal cultural advocacy and spoke with staff from Senator Lee’s and Romney’s and Congressman Curtis’, Moore’s, and Stewart’s offices about supporting bills and further appropriations friendly to the nation’s cultural industry. This was also an amazing opportunity to generate new connections in preparation for the 118th Congress and our lobbying efforts over the next two years. We thank WESTAF for this amazing opportunity!
