Day 18 Instructions

As we make progress on various cultural industry asks throughout the 2022 General Session, it is important to let legislators know that the work they have already done has been worthwhile and that we are immensely thankful for it. Please take five minutes right now to send a thank you message to legislators listed below. Taking the time to send these messages right now greatly assists us in our advocacy efforts during the current session. As such, please:

• Craft a three to four sentence message to send to the legislators listed below and your individual legislator that can be found on the Utah Legislature's website
  • At least one sentence should be a direct thank you for appropriating Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds toward the cultural industry
  • If your organization has received COVID relief funds through the Create In Utah program, the Impacted Small Business Catalyst Grant (SBIG), the COVID-19 Live Events Grant, Shop In Utah grant program, or the Safe In Utah (PPE Support) grant program, please include one or two sentences on what these funds allowed you to do and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As an example, here is a skeleton framework that you could incorporate for your message:

Hello,

My name is [insert name here], [job/affiliation title] of [organization you are affiliated with]. I sincerely thank you for your swift action in investing within the cultural industry to offset the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. [organization you are affiliated with] received funding through the [grant program received funding through] which allowed us to [one or two sentences on how relief funding benefitted your organization]. Again, thank you for investing in the cultural industry during this unprecedented time.
