SUU Opens Its Art Studios to the Community for Open Studio Night

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: Art Insights, hosted by SUU’s Department of Art & Design, will once again open its studios to the community and SUU’s faculty, students and alumni on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Open Studio Night is a free event that provides an evening of arts through studio visits, lectures, exhibits, and socializing.

 

The focus of this year’s Open Studio Night is embodied in the event slogan, "Find your place. Find your space." All Freshmen Art students, undeclared SUU students and incoming freshman are invited to come meet the professors, see the studios, and find your place as part of the SUU creative community.

 

Learn more about the programs offered by the Department of Art & Design and discover how SUU students are becoming artists, creative directors and leaders in the creative industry. The evening will be capped with an alumni artist lecture by Ari Seidenstricker, a Senior Art Director from Minneapolis, MN. There will be food, door prizes and double Art Insights credit for the evening.

The Open Studio check-in will be held in the SUU Ballroom in the Sharwan Smith Student Center. Events will begin at 4:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm. The scheduled events are:

3:45 pm - Check-in Begins
4:00-6:00 pm - Studio & Exhibit Visits
6:00-6:45 pm - Social Mixer, Refreshments and Music
7:00 pm - Raffle, Acknowledgements & Introductions
7:15-8:30 pm - Alumni Speaker: Ari Seidenstricker

Art Insights is hosted during the fall and spring semesters by SUU’s Art & Design faculty. Students and community members meet to experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights.

 

About the College of Performing and Visual Arts

The Southern Utah University College of Performing and Visual Arts is comprised of nationally accredited departments of Art and Design, Music, and Dance.
