Prints by Jeanette Lukens • Exhibit runs from Oct 31 to Dec 1, 2022. ARTIST STATEMENT: As a geologist growing up and living in New Mexico and Utah, I have a deep love for the abundant national parks, public lands, and historic places. I have captured some of my favorite iconic scenes from throughout Utah and the other Four Corners states in this series of small relief prints. These images coincide with some of my favorite memories and experiences, and I am sure I am not alone in loving these extraordinary landscapes. These prints were produced using carved wood blocks printed with black ink on white paper. To create the image, white areas were carved out of the block using specialized tools. Black areas were printed from the parts of the wood block that remain. These and other original prints can be viewed and purchased at www.JeanetteLukensArt.com. ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Born and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Jeanette greatly benefitted from the state’s extensive arts community and vibrant landscape. New Mexico’s wide array of talented artists and opportunities, including museums, exhibitions, mentors, and apprenticeships, allowed her love for the arts to thrive while she also explored the unique landscape. Since leaving New Mexico, Jeanette has been active in community art organizations and shown in juried exhibitions in Virginia, Alabama, and Utah where she now resides. While Jeanette has experience in oil, acrylic, water color and other mediums, in recent years she has focused on relief printmaking, specifically linoleum and wood cuts.
