Select Women Artists from the Agnes Gund Collection and Select Artists Associated with the Art for Justice Fund [email protected]
Modern West is thrilled to be partnering with Susan Swartz Studios in bringing Select Women Artists from the Agnes Gund Collection and Select Artists Associated with the Art for Justice Fund, curated by Nicole Gallo, to Utah. The exhibition will be on view at Modern West in Salt Lake City, UT, Feb. 7-March 7, 2020, and is showing in conjunction with the Sundance Film Festival world premiere of Catherine Gund’s documentary AGGIE, produced by Aubin Pictures. This compelling exhibition features a selection of works by women artists from the Agnes Gund Collection along with works by grant recipients from the Art for Justice Fund. Also featured is Life Size, by Mark Bradford, the first artist to donate his own artwork to raise money for the Art for Justice Fund, which the entire edition of Life Size raised $1 million for this incredible initiative. Agnes Gund, the revered art collector, philanthropist and former President of MoMA, founded Art for Justice through the sale of a beloved Roy Lichtenstein painting and, along with a small group of generous donors, a movement was born. The Art for Justice Fund is disrupting mass incarceration by funding artists and advocates working together to reform our criminal justice system. The Art for Justice Fund is supported by partnerships with the Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Modern West is thrilled to be presenting this collection to showcase and highlight the power of art and Agnes Gund’s contribution in providing awareness with her own call to action. This exhibition marks a first for Utah with some of the featured artists making their debut showing in the state. PLEASE JOIN US FOR GALLERY STROLL Friday, February 21, 6-9 pm
