Welcome, Cathy Sheeter, a world-renowned Master Scratchboard Artists for a 3-day Scratchboard workshop.

Learn about the fun and addicting medium of Scratchboard from a world-renowned Master Scratchboard Artists, Cathy Sheeter, visiting the Pioneer Craft House for a 3-day intensive workshop. Scratchboard is a unique subtractive medium where the artist scratches away a black ink layer to reveal a white clay underneath. This workshop will focus on creating animals in this medium, on a 5 x 7 scratchboard, but the skills students will take away can apply to other subject matters. No prior experience is necessary, and this workshop is perfect for beginners and advanced students alike. This class teaches everything from different tools to use, to the selection of reference photos, and how to create a variety of textures and values with scratches. Cathy will also delve into how to color Scratchboard with ink and even how to correct mistakes (yes you can!).  You will be amazed as you watch your artwork emerge out of the dark board. ?Students will receive comprehensive written notes and lots of one-on-one time as they work on their projects. Most leave with a 5 x 7 finished piece of artwork, and may even start a second one. We hope you can join us for this special 3-day workshop!
