In partnership with Wasatch Community Gardens, we would like to acknowledge this beautiful artwork specially created for our project "Flavors of my Homeland", by the Mexican, Utah local artist Veronica Perez. The significance of this piece is here described by her: "At the center is the ma?z. It is growing from a yollotl with a corn kernel inside. In nahuatl yollotl means heart, but it can also mean the seed of something, and ma?z is the "heart" of the milpa.
