Ruth Jones // Clearfield City Council 4 year term // Grade: B-
How have the arts, culture, and/or humanities impacted your life?
Answer: I have a son who passed away at 17 from cancer. He went to MD Anderson and participated in the Children's art project. He was selected as the best new artist of the year when he was ten. His art wasn't spectacular but it gave him purpose and peace. Art is the doorway to expression and truly can heal. When life is hard or frightening or overwhelming we can all express that but children especially need a way to talk and feel. Art is a doorway to that and more, it can bring us together.
