Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 Finishing Touches Rehearsal [email protected]
Experience a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing our concerts to the stage during our Finishing Touches rehearsals. This is a working rehearsal and selections from the weekend’s program will be made at the discretion of the conductor. Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 is a virtuosic dazzler of bold strokes and robust colors, and pianist Behzod Abduraimov is known to perform it with “infectious brilliance.” David Robertson—who has built an undeniable rapport with the Utah Symphony’s musicians—also leads the witty Shostakovich Symphony No. 1, perhaps the greatest graduation project of all time, and The Chairman Dances, an “outtake” from Adams’ opera Nixon in China that also appeared on the soundtrack for the video game Civilization IV.
