Utah Chamber Artists is proud to announce this year’s concert series entitled BRIDGES. Over the course of the season Dr. Bradford and our musicians will explore the impact of music; how it bridges the past and future, individuals and cultures, and can serve as a bridge to understanding.

Our first program is at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City and will be offered free to the public on Monday September 19th and Tuesday September 20th at 8:00 PM. Called “In Memoriam”, these concerts will feature music of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Vaughan Williams and others. The concerts are dedicated to Dorothy Weston Bradford who passed away last year. Her grandson Christopher Bradford will premiere one of his new compositions which features crystal Tibetan singing bowls. As always these Collage Concerts are performed without applause, boast special lighting by Christopher Dance, and implement creative placement of ensembles and soloists throughout the evening. Soloists include Gabriele Terrone, David Porter and Brant Bayless.

The remaining concerts of the 2017-2018 season are as follow:

Christmas Concert
CELEBRATE!
December 4, 2017
Libby Gardner Concert Hall

Music helps us celebrate the richness of our lives. Holidays and other important occasions would not be the same without the music that heightens and intensifies their meaning. Over the ages, the festive sounds of the season have bridged the revels of those celebrating Winter Solstice and the reverent reflection of those memorializing the birth of Jesus Christ.

“When Icicles Hang” – John Rutter
Carols by Barlow Bradford, Christopher Bradford, John Hayward
Audience sing-along

Winter Concert
REFUGE
March 12, 2018
Libby Gardner Concert Hall

Music can reflect our sadness and despair during troubled times. UCA will present a variety of works to which people have turned for emotional refuge. You will also hear music created by those in the midst of war, pain, and despondency. The concert will culminate with Dona Nobis Pacem, “give us peace” illustrating music’s capacity to serve as a bridge from suffering to healing.

Music of Dinerstein, Paul Simon, Peteris Vasks, Messiaen, and more
Guest soloist: Raymond Tymas-Jones

Spring Concert
LET’S DANCE!
May 7, 2018

Life is a dance we all share. In this concert, we will perform music that brings us joy and lifts us up. Music began as an ancient form of expression that will continue to serve as a bridge to the future.
