Salt Lake Acting Company Presents
the World Premiere of
SATURDAY’S VOYEUR 2017

Salt Lake Acting Company (SLAC) gears up for its 39th edition of Utah’s most irreverent and hilarious summer party,SATURDAY’S VOYEUR, running June 21 – August 27, 2017. This year, with so much swirling in our country’s political landscape, the show is appropriately subtitled: The Sh*t Show (Дерьмо шоу).
In the style of a Mission Impossible/James Bond spy drama, the three-act musical satire takes place on three momentous days: Act I: November 9 – the day after the 2016 election; Act II: January 21 – the day after Donald Trump’s Inauguration; Act III: Donald’s 110th day in office. We visit a Utah state liquor store, Jason Chaffetz’s congressional office, and Donald’s infamous estate, Mar-a-Lago (Voyeurized as “Mar-a-Loco”) in an attempt to figure out what exactly is going on in our crazy world, and if there really is a Russian connection.
This year’s cast of characters include Peggy – the manager of a liquor store in Salt Lake, Sterling – one of her most frequent “customers”, Buddy Holly – the late rock and roll heartthrob, mysteriously back from the dead, Alexa & Siri – the voices in Amazon Echo Dot and Apple iPhone, Jason Chaffetz – our soon-to-be departed congressman, Orrin Hatch – our never-ending senator, a chorus of Trump supporters and staffers, pussy hat marchers, and Vladimir Putin himself.
Saturday’s Voyeur 2017 satirizes an eclectic mix of songs including Don McLean’s American Pie (American Lie), Ricky Martin’sLivin’ La Vida Loca (Livin’ in Mar-a-Loco), The Rainbow Connection (The Russian Connection), Beauty & the Beast’s Kill the Beast(Drain the Swamp), Three Dog Night’s Eli’s Coming (Donald’s Coming), Diamonds are Forever (Orrin is Forever), and Camelot(Lies-a-Lot).
The cast includes a mix of Voyeur veterans and newbies: Eric Lee Brotherson*, Justin Ivie*, Becky Jeanne, Jillian Joy, Dan Larrinaga, Eb Madson, Emilie Starr, Cassandra Stokes-Wylie*, CJ Strong*, William Richardson, Katryna Williams and Annette Wright.
This year, perhaps more than ever before, Saturday’s Voyeur provides a catharsis for Utahns who are baffled, bothered and bewildered by our local and national politics. As always, Voyeur is presented cabaret-style, allowing audiences to bring in their picnics and laugh to keep from crying. Tickets on sale now.

Allen Nevins has been writing for SATURDAY'S VOYEUR the last 29 years. He came to Salt Lake Acting Company in 1989 as the Literary Manager and in 1990 he formed a writing and business partnership with Nancy Borgenicht. In 1993, their partnership, Saturday's Voyeur, Inc., became the management company and the Executive Producers of Salt Lake Acting Company, for which they received the UAF Mayors Award for the Performing Arts and also the Governor’s Award for the Arts. As Executive Producers they expanded and re-built the Upstairs Theatre, designed and built the Chapel Theatre as an alternative performing space, unionized SLAC's acting pool and re-instituted SATURDAY'S VOYEUR as the annual summer fundraiser for Salt Lake Acting Company. After 39 years Saturday’s Voyeur remains an outlet for discourse, dissent, irreverent humor, cheap shots at elected officials; and of course, political in-correctness in all its forms.
Nancy Borgenicht has been part of The Salt Lake Acting Company since 1974. She served as Co-Executive Producer with Allen Nevins from 1993-2005 and as Interim Executive Producer for the 2009-2010 Season. She received the Mayor’s Award for the Arts in 1999 and accepted for SLAC the Governor’s Award for the Arts in 2001. Her directing credits for SLAC include ANGELS IN AMERICA, WHITE MAN DANCING, OLEANNA, WOMEN AND WALLACE, CABBIES, COWBOYS ANDTHE TREE OF THE WEEPING VIRGIN, and SATURDAY’S VOYEUR from 1993 to 2003. She conceived and created SATURDAY’S VOYEUR in 1978.
DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER
Cynthia Fleming has been in the world of dance and theatre professionally for over 38 years, during which time she performed in the Broadway, National and International companies with A CHORUS LINE. Since 1995 she has worn many hats at SLAC, including Choreographer, Director, Box Office Manager and Director of Audience Services. She developed SLAC’s high quality customer service titled: Mayberry meets Space Odyssey, which is the foundation for the record breaking number of subscribers. She conceived and created the position of Director of Communication and Audience Development and assembled the communication team to generate a renewed energy and excitement about the theatre. In 2010 she became Co-Executive Producer and is now honored to be SLAC’s Executive Artistic Director. Cynthia remains a working artist in the theatre and has choreographed many SLAC productions including SATURDAY’S VOYEUR for 15 years and directed/choreographed this musical for 6 years. Cynthia is proud to serve SLAC and its mission to engage and enrich community through brave contemporary theatre.
MUSIC DIRECTOR
Michael Leavitt a native of Las Vegas, is returning to SATURDAY’S VOYEUR for his second year. As a graduate student in Collaborative Piano at the University of Utah, Michael is a vocal coach, accompanist as well as musical director in the opera, choral, and musical theater departments. Recently, Michael wrote a new one-act opera setting of CHARLES DICKENS’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL which premiered at the Grand Theater performed by the University of Utah Lyric Opera Ensemble. As associate conductor, Michael worked with Tony award winning soprano Audra McDonald for the Hale Center Theater Orem’s production of 110 IN THE SHADE. In addition, Michael has been the pianist, music director, and/or conductor for many musical theater and opera productions including: DIE FLEDERMAUS, AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS, LE NOZZE DE FIGARO, SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE, OKLAHOMA, AIDA, GUYS AND DOLLS, and more.

Annette Wright is back! Playing Heavenly Mother in Voyeur last summer was SA FUN, I decided to go another round! I have performed in many of the theaters around town since 1989 and in a variety of film work since the late 90s, but working at SLAC is a JOY. My last show at SLAC besides Saturdays Voyeur was BLOODY, BLOODY, ANDREW JACKSON, and before that MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS and WAIT by Julie Jensen. I love performing and making audiences laugh. Thanks to all the subscribers for your support, it makes coming back to the stage easy!
Becky Jeanne is thrilled to be returning as part of the 2017 Saturday's Voyeur cast! Becky has performed in almost 40 productions at several theaters across the Wasatch front; this being her 2nd with SLAC. A few of her most memorable roles have been The Drowsy Chaperone in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Elizabeth Benning in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, and her most recent role as The Housekeeper in Utah Opera's 2017 production of MAN OF LA MANCHA. Becky can also be seen at the Natural History Museum of Utah doing live learning presentations and shows where she works as an actor and show manager. Becky is honored to again be a part of this irreverent and zany original production with such a crazy talented crew!
Cassandra Stokes-Wylie* is thrilled to be back at SLAC for the third time this season after having played Alyson Moss in HARBUR GATE and Tanya in BULL SHARK ATTACK. Other favorite theater credits include: IN A TILTED PLACE; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM; IN THE NEXT ROOM, OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY; PRIDE AND PREJUDICE; THE EXIT INTERVIEW; THE CRUCIBLE; CHEAT and THE TURN OF THE SCREW. She understudied and performed with the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, has a BFA in Acting from the University of Utah and currently lives in New York City.
CJ Strong* received a BFA in Theatre Performance from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT. CJ was last seen as Trenner in Pioneer Theatre Company's production of WOMEN IN JEOPARDY! Some credits include: A BRIGHT NEW BOISE(Alex); SEX WITH STRANGERS (Ethan); CARRIE - THE MUSICAL (Tommy); CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION (James); GYPSY (Tulsa); A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Dick Wilkins); Godspell (John the Baptist); The Tempest (Ferdinand); The National Premiere of ZORRO: THE MUSICAL (Gypsy). Film & Television: Disney Channel’s ANDI MACK (Kip); Netflix’s DEIDRA AND LANEY ROB A TRAIN (Wally); H8RZ (Meat Head); David Archuleta’s “EVERYBODY HURTS” Music Video (Boyfriend). Dan Larrinaga is beyond thrilled to do another Voyeur after a 15-year hiatus. He was last seen at SLAC in last year's Playwrights' Lab in support of Hansol Jung's WILD GOOSE DREAMS. Other credits at SLAC include BIG LOVE, NAPOLEON'S CHINA and of course a few wild summers in SATURDAY'S VOYEUR. Dan's most recent stage time has been performing many fun shows at the Desert Star Theatre in Murray. Outside of Utah, he has performed nationally and internationally in such shows as SOUTH PACIFIC with Jamie Farr, DREAM TIME! at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in NYC, ALL ABOARD!...AND THEN SOMEin Philadelphia, and OF MICE AND MEN in Europe. And not long ago, he did a cruise ship gig with Holland America. Larrinaga is a native of Utah where his favorite credits include: RAT PACK REMEMBERED, TAKING WALES, EURYDICE, CAROUSEL, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, BIG LOVE, AND FOREVER PLAID, among many others. Dan spent one expensive year at NYU's Graduate Film program and he holds a BA in English from the University of Utah.
Eb Madson is incredibly excited to be returning for his 5th Voyeur. Eb started his acting career as an improv actor when he was sixteen performing with local improv troupes Quick Wits, Laugh Match, 3.2 improv, Off the Cuff, and is original founding member of Off the Wall Improv & Improv Against Humanity in Ogden. Eb went on and received his BFA from the University of Utah Actor Training Program (Go Utes). He continued to get his Master's in Make Believe (MFA) from Ohio University. In 2012 Eb received the James Whitmore Award for his work with the Peterborough Players in New Hampshire. Since last year Eb has continued to work at his friends theater in Ogden, The Ziegfeld. You may of seen him there or in Park City as Seymour in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS or as Snoopy in YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN. He is also looking forward to seeing himself on HBO in the upcoming mini-series Mosaic. Emilie Starr is a successful starving actress in Utah and she has performed all over the state. She is excited to be a part of VOYEUR for the 3rd time. Some of her favorite roles include, Fly in DIARY OF A WORM A SPIDER AND A FLY, Zooey in MR. PERFECT & Juliet in R&J STAR CROSSED DEATH MATCH all with Salt Lake Acting Company, Richardis in Virtue with Plan B. Diane in NEXT TO NORMAL with the Ziegfeld Theatre, Cavale in COWBOY MOUTH with Good Company Theatre and Alice in CLOSER with Wasatch Theatre. She also has performed in Intermountain’s LIVE WELL TOUR where she has traveled to elementary schools all over the state teaching kids about eating healthy and staying active. In her spare time she works full time at Salt Lake Acting Company on their marketing and audience development team. So SUBSCRIBE! Eric Lee Brotherson* is celebrating his 19th year in Actor's Equity, and is thrilled to be in his 2nd Voyeur at SLAC, having performed in it last year. He just returned from Arizona for Arizona Theatre Company's 50th Anniversary production of Fiddler of the Roof. In his career, Eric has performed in 25 countries, 45 states, and over 100 cities worldwide. He has performed from rural casinos to Lincoln Center to European opera houses. He has choreographed, taught voice and dance, and coaches privately. He graduated with honors in the social sciences and English, but has remained in the arts because he believes in the sacredness of storytelling. His proudest moments on stage were as Tugger in the NW Premiere of CATS, as Mike in Pioneer's production of Chorus Line, and in the Seattle production of Tommy directed by Brian Yorkey, where he was associate choreographer and dance captain. Jillian Joy is very excited to pop her SLAC cherry by joining the cast of Voyeur! Theatrically, Jillian was recently seen along the Wasatch Front as Anita in WEST SIDE STORY at CPT, being dragged to her death in MAN OF LA MANCHA with Utah Opera, and creepily selling flowers in Español in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at the Grand. In March she completed filming on the feature film “Time Freak.” You may also recognize her latest commercial role as the Voila Mattress Angel. She would like to thank the production team for involving her in the wild and crazy show.
Justin Ivie* is a proud member of Actors’ Equity who is thrilled be a part of SLAC’s 46 the season! SLAC audiences will recognize Justin from his eight previous appearances in the cast of SATURDAY’S VOYEUR; as Dev in STUPID FUCKING BIRD and as Jones in 2010’s TOO MUCH MEMORY. He has also served as Stage Manager for three recent SLAC shows, and directed SLAC’s readings of GRANT & TWAIN and BANG-BANG (PAUSE) BANG. His many other acting credits include appearances with Pioneer Theatre Company, Utah Musical Theatre, Egyptian Theatre Company, Old Lyric Repertory Theatre and many others - both locally and in Chicago. A Weber State alumnus, Justin earned his MFA in Acting at Northern Illinois University. He has taught theatre and communications at LDS Business College, NIU, Triton College, and Weber State. Justin also designs scenery, props and theatrical masks, writes an occasional play, and sometimes even plays his banjo (when he’s pretty sure no one is listening).
Katryna Williams is thrilled to be back at SLAC after having had the opportunity to take part in the Playwrights Lab this year, where she worked on Kathleen Cahill's newest play: SILENT DANCER. She is a rising senior in the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah. University Credits include: TWO NOBLE KINSMEN (First Queen), SELF DEFENSE OR DEATH OF SOME SALESMAN (Leanne), & AMERICAN IDIOT (Alysha/Leslie). Katryna is also a member of the Salt Lake based devised theatre company WHOS LOUIS and has had the opportunity to create work for the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival, Great Salt Lake Fringe, and the Grand Opening Eccles Theatre.
William Richardson is all wet to pop his VOYEUR cherry! Previous credits at SLAC include Stuart in TOO MUCH MEMORY (Regional Premiere); ‘Old Blindy’ in BLEEDING HEARTS (NPSS Reading); Godlee/Pillage in THE HARVEY GIRLS (Fringe Reading); as well as Gandry in READY, STEADY, YETI, GO! and Michael in SILENT DANCER the last two years of Playwright’s Lab. Earlier this year, he played Anselmo in MAN OF LA MANCHA and sang tenor in LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR with Utah Opera. B.A. Musical Theatre, Weber State University.
