Meet Utah Statewide Annual Exhibition artist, Stephanie Leitch. Leitch's "Milk Field" is a suspended installation made from acrylic, steel, test tubes, pipette tips, fender washers, brass EDM line and school glue. “This work is part of a series of what I refer to as large-scale ‘drip fields.” The installation involves suspending a reservoir that I engineer with test tubes and string lines that are anchored to small suspended weight forms, with a receiving reservoir at the base. The installation is activated by a pour of the fluid medium that works its way through the engineered tank, down the lines and collects again at the base. The particular medium used in Milk Field is school glue. As the material flows and collects to its maximum, the movement slows and eventually solidifies.” Her work has earned her the "Best in Show" and "OCA Choice Award" for the Statewide Annual Exhibit. Leitch will be giving an Artist Chat at OCA on December 2nd, 6pm.
