New Art Exhibit Showcases Culture and Art of Pacific Islands

 

SALT LAKE CITY — The traditional art forms and creative expressions of Pacific Island cultures are highlighted in a new exhibition at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art.

The exhibition Current examines how different Pacific Island cultures have developed and refined particular techniques and aesthetics and how those elements are present in the artwork of today.

The exhibit will open Nov. 18 with a reception from 6-9 p.m. at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art in Liberty Park, 1150 S. Constitution Dr. (600 East). It will be on display until Feb. 9, 2018

Current is presented by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums in partnership with Pacific Island Knowledge 2 Action Resources and PEAU-Pasifika Enriching Art Of Utah.
