SALT LAKE CITY, UT – On August 18-20, 2016 a new dance festival will launch in Salt Lake City. New Century Dance Project, the brain-child of Los Angeles-based choreographer and teacher Francisco Gella (RDT dancer 1996-1998), brings together professional dancers and companies from Utah and beyond to share their expertise and artistic excellence with young aspiring dancers training for their future.
The festival will culminate with a unique performance that features both dancers and local companies. The closing festival performance will be at the University of Utah’s Hayes Christensen Theatre on Saturday evening August 20 at 7:00 pm. Companies include Utah’s own Repertory Dance Theatre, Ballet West II, SALT Contemporary Dance, BYU Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Creative Arts Academy, Center Stage Performing Arts, as well as some of the finest youth companies from across the United States, including Bunker Dance Center’s Nevada Youth Dance Company, The Dance Studio of Fresno, and Columbia City Jazz Company.
New Century Dance Project is being produced by Creative Arts Academy, and supported by Repertory Dance Theatre. For festival details, concert tickets, and passes to the concert after-party, and to register for master classes/workshops, please go to https://newcenturydanceproject.org .
Concert tickets are $10/student and $15/non-student, and after-party tickets purchases in advance are $10/person.
About Repertory Dance Theatre
RDT is the nation’s oldest and most successful repertory dance company. Unlike conventional modern dance organizations, we present you with a diverse range of modern dance styles and choreographers paired together in dynamic and unexpected performances.
New viewers often ask us what to expect from an RDT performance. We tell them grace and athleticism, beauty and power. Beyond that, we tell them to embrace the unexpected. So, what is RDT Dance all about? Simply said, we are about art. Art in motion, expressed through our bodies as modern dance. Art that in its immediacy and intimacy can be both thrilling and profound. Art that challenges you, and art that you won’t see coming.
