Natalie Gordon // North Salt Lake City Council // Grade: A
How have the arts, culture, and/or humanities impacted your life?
When I was younger, I participated in the arts; mostly orchestra and theater. That prior participation has created a love of the arts in my life. I am grateful for the opportunities we have to enjoy the symphony, opera, art museums and galleries, and theater in Utah, both on the community level and professional level. This has helped me recognize and appreciate diverse cultures and ideas and has made me a more empathetic person.
Would you like to be considered for endorsement by Utah Cultural Alliance?
Answer: Yes
Utah's humanities and arts employ 112,000 Utahns, provide $4 billion in earnings, and $16 billion in sales. This is a larger economic impact than agriculture, mining, and real estate. Do you consider the arts and cultural sector an economic driver in Utah?

While serving on the North Salt Lake Parks, Arts, Trails and Recreation committee, I advocated for local artists to display their work in city buildings, summer children's theater and cultural experiences for the community (like regular book club events, a kite festival, and an arts and crafts market). Some of these things have been implemented. Others need to begin or be restored.
