Dear Friend of ZAP:  

In 2008, Salt Lake County issued a county-wide Cultural Facilities Master Plan, in which we recommended building regional cultural centers to serve the needs of our very active county-wide performing groups.  We will soon realize the first of those recommended regional centers in the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville.  In 2017, Salt Lake County and Taylorsville City entered into an agreement to design and construct the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center, which is scheduled to open in 2020 and will be located adjacent to the Taylorsville City Hall. 
 

The Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center (MVPAC) will be operated by the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts (CFA).  CFA also operates Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre, Eccles Theater, Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center and ArtTix.
 
As a potential user of the facility, we invite you to attend an upcoming information gathering meeting on Wednesday, October 25, at the Taylorsville City Hall.  At this meeting, our design team will give an overview of the planned spaces in the theater, the CFA team will give a brief overview of operations, and then we want to hear from you.  We have two time options; the first is at 2:00 p.m. and the second is at 6:00 p.m.  Both sessions will be the same. 
 
We want to know how you think you would use the building (performances, events, corporate meetings), what equipment or services you need or want, or anything else you think is important for the design and operations teams to know. 
 
The basic parameters of the venue are set based on budget and site location, so we will want to focus our conversation on the following confirmed spaces: 

  • 400 seat proscenium theater
  • 250 seat multi-use theater (black box)
  • ArtTix ticket office
  • Public lobby
  • Theater support spaces:
    • One rehearsal room that is the size of the proscenium stage
    • One multi-use rehearsal room and event space
    • Dressing rooms
    • Office space
    • Loading dock
    • Technical offices
