    Searching for a way to fight back against the demands of her difficult life, Halo walks into a gym and begins mixed martial arts training. Her trainer doesn’t think she can handle it and her family doesn’t understand, but Halo is determined. When life’s problems begin bleeding into her training the mat, Halo realizes the only way to survive is to fight.

  • Cedar City Spike 150 Celebration

    A week long salute to Cedar City’s railroad & Hollywood movie history in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad and the Driving of the Golden Spike

    Cedar City celebrates Spike 150 and the community's ties to the railroad industry.  This week of events includes a screening of the classic Cecil B. Demile film Union Pacific, which was filmed in Cedar City. The opening of the Spike 150 Exhibit "A World Transformed-The Transcontinental Railroad and Utah” at the Southern Utah Museum of Art. There will be a gallery talk about the exhibit and Wonder Wednesday will be railroad themed activities for children K-5. The Iron County Historical Society will host a guest lecture by Iron County Historian Ryan Paul "Traveling the Painted Canyons: The Utah Parks Company 1923-73".  The week culminates with a Downtown Mural unveiling & celebration  where Historic Downtown unveils their mural project commemorating  the Spike 150 Celebration,  Utah Parks Company and Union Pacific Railroad.  All events are FREE!

The beautiful, but ill, courtesan Violetta Valéry falls in love with the upper-class gentleman Alfredo and leaves her life as a kept woman for an idyllic life in the country with him.  When pressured to leave Alfredo by his father, she flees to her former life leaving only a note. But Alfredo’s love will not be denied, and he isn’t going to stand aside as he sees her on the arm of another man. Highlights: Stars Anya Matanovic, praised for her “power” and “rich, warm soprano” (Utah Arts Review) as Violetta Valéry, the young Parisian courtesan who is conflicted by her love, lifestyle, and health. Tenor Rafael Moras makes his Utah Opera debut as Alfredo Germont, Violetta’s love interest Metropolitan Opera-regular Michael Chioldi, one of the most sought-after dramatic baritones of his generation, returns as Alfredo’s father Features Utah Opera’s newly refurbished and ever-popular production designed by Peter Dean Beck with costumes by Susan Memmott Allred Sung in Italian with English supertitles.

  • Ancient Skies Through Ancient Eyes Exhibit

    Ancient Skies Through Ancient Eyes is a photographic exhibition by Mr. Bob Maynard. The exhibition opens to the public March 23, 2019, and features a selection of photographs from Maynard’s book on archeaoastronomy and night photography in the desert Southwest. Ancient Skies Through Ancient Eyes takes you on an exciting discovery of the unexpected abundance of ancient rock art and ruins in and around the Colorado Plateau of the American Southwest. It examines rock art styles and delves into ways the ancient ones used rock art panels and architecture to mark the passing of time and the seasons. The exhibition will run until October 31, 2019. Bob Maynard is a national award-winning photographer who founded Colorado Plateau Photo Tours in 2009. As a resident of Boulder, Colorado, he has held federal permits in sixteen national parks, national monuments, or BLM areas and has led workshops in 9 states. Nearly one thousand photographers have used his services. He and his wife, Cindy, have published two books, A Photographer’s Guide to Colorado’s National Parks and Monuments, and Ancient Skies Through Ancient Eyes.

  • Richard Ramos: Un|Rest

    Un|Rest by Richard Ramos is a sculptural installation examining eight different aspects of the bed as a place or object where and with which human beings engage in activities including, but not limited to sleep. Issues involving social justice, mental health, vulnerability, illness and death will be addressed through the lens of common definitions and ideas about what a bed is. Opens at #O1PLATFORMS (490 25th Street, Ogden UT 84401) on Friday September 6 with a reception for the artist from 6-9 pm., in concert with Ogden City’s First Friday Art Stroll.

    Celebrating 40 years of amazing art and craftsmanship, the Utah Calligraphic Artists has actively sought to promote and encourage lettering arts throughout the state.  This exhibit is a collection from some of our best members with varying levels of experience.

    Utah Watercolor Society: Our Best features artwork by members who have been accepted into a minimum of two UWS Spring exhibitions. West Valley City Division of Arts and Culture are proud to present this year’s Signature/Two-star Utah Watercolor Society Members. We also welcome Al Rounds, juror for this year’s show. Al Rounds’ transparent watercolors register a beautiful familiarity with the world we all love. They carry us over miles and years, which speak of history revisited and of lives well-lived. Scouring back roads and country lanes, searching for the past, Al Rounds continues to capture a particular reverence for the pride of a place. Come view the dazzling display of watercolor at its finest, on display at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center Sept 5 – Oct 16, 2019. Opening Reception: Sept 5, 6 – 8 p.m.

    Welcome to students at any skill level, this class is open to anyone wanting to improve their drawing abilities.

    Come improve your drawing skill set, regardless of your current ability, beginner to advanced. Develop your ability to render through observation, understanding light and shadow, principles of design, and the basics of perspective. The course will include weekly sketchbook assignments. First day of class 9/9/19.
