Job Summary

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is located on the campus of the University of Utah and offers visitors the opportunity to explore over 5,000 years of human creativity with a collection of over 20,000 art objects from classic Greek and Roman antiquities to cutting-edge, contemporary art. Founded in 1914, theUMFAis the state of Utah’s official museum and the University of Utah’s art museum, creating exhibitions and programs to serve a wide array of audiences. TheUMFAtoday is housed in the award-winning Marcia and John Price Museum Building.

This position coordinates marketing and communications to maximize exposure, awareness, and event traffic and to ensure effective internal and external communications, with particular responsibility for digital and web communications. Supports the Director of Marketing & Communications in raising the UMFA’s public profile.

Responsibilities

1. Coordinate day-to-day management of and content updates forUMFAwebsite, in coordination with cross-departmental web team.

2. Create and distribute twice-monthly e-newsletter toUMFAmembers and friends. Monitor analytics and make suggestions for improving content, design, delivery strategy, and integration with website.

3. Create content and manage production of UMFA’s print newsletter, the quarterly, which includes but is not limited to developing content proposals for each issue, creating and maintaining deadlines, writing copy, editing, gathering images and image rights, and proofreading. Work closely with Graphic Designer to ensure timely publication and delivery.

4. Write, edit, and prepare written communications and marketing materials as needed, with emphasis on coordinating promotion of Museum events. Work closely with Graphic Designer to ensure timely production of print and digital materials.

5. Attend cross-departmental team meetings as assigned.

6. Support marketing and communications team with other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related area, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). One year of related experience and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in accounts payable and receivable; and knowledge in all phases of production, such as types of paper, typesetting, printing, design, direct mail, and advertising concepts may be preferred.
