Description: THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR WILL HELP TO CARRY OUT THE MISSION, POLICIES
AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SPRINGVILLE MUSEUM OF ART (SMA) AND
SPRINGVILLE CITY IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER. WILL SERVE AS PART OF THE
MUSEUM EXECUTIVE TEAM IN THE ROLE OF OPERATIONS, MARKETING AND
DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING MANAGER. THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR WILL ACT
AS DIRECTOR OF THE MUSEUM IN THE DIRECTOR’S ABSENCE.
Duties: -RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MARKETING, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND ONLINE
PRESENCE OF THE MUSEUM
-OVERSEES PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR MUSEUM
PROGRAMS AND EXHIBITIONS
-COORDINATES FUNDRAISING PROJECTS INCLUDING GRANTS (GOVERNMENT
AND PRIVATE), DONOR/STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS AND MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
-OVERSEES INTERNAL FINANCE SYSTEMS, INCLUDING PROGRAM/EXHIBITION
BUDGETS AND TRACKING
-COORDINATES WITH OTHER CITY DEPARTMENTS AS NEEDED FOR GENERAL
FINANCE, FACILITIES AND IT SERVICES
-OVERSEES ONGOING NON-PROFIT, 501(C)3, COMPLIANCE AND BEST PRACTICE
FOR THE SPRINGVILLE MUSEUM OF ART ASSOCIATION
-COORDINATES WITH PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICIALS FOR EMERGENCY PLANNING
AND RESPONSE
-OVERSEES DAY-TO- DAY OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS AND STAFF, INCLUDING
RENTALS, STORE AND FRONT OF HOUSE
-MAY OVERSEE REGISTRATION AND COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT, AND
ARCHIVES
-SERVES AS AN AMBASSADOR AND REPRESENTATIVE FOR SMA WITH OTHER
PROFESSIONAL NETWORKS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND RELEVANT
ADVOCACY GROUPS
-All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: GRADUATE OF AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY, WITH A MINIMUM OF A
BACHELOR’S DEGREE; MASTER’S DEGREE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, ARTS
ADMINISTRATION, OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE PREFERRED. PREVIOUS
EXPERIENCE IN MUSEUM/NON-PROFIT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT IS
BENEFICIAL. KNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATION OF MUSEUMS, VISUAL ARTS AND
THE HUMANITIES IS AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF THIS POSITION.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
HIGHLY CREATIVE SELF-STARTER WITH STRONG ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND
ADMINISTRATIVE EFFICIENCY. CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS LEADERSHIP SKILLS
AND BE ABLE TO DELEGATE TASKS AND MOTIVATE STAFF, STAKEHOLDERS AND
VOLUNTEERS. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO ORGANIZE, IMPLEMENT, AND
EVALUATE EFFECTIVE AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AND FUNDRAISING
CAMPAIGNS. STRONG INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, BOTH
ORAL AND WRITTEN, INCLUDING CAREFUL COPY EDITING. MUST HAVE A HIGH
DEGREE OF COMPUTER LITERACY, INCLUDING FAMILIARITY WITH MICROSOFT
OFFICE, ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE, AND SOCIAL MEDIA APPLICATIONS.
