Help Nonprofits Throughout the Year With Service Pledge Drive

SALT LAKE CITY — During the holiday season, many Utahns look for opportunities to help those in need. Through UServeUtah’s Holiday Service Pledge Drive, individuals and families can commit to show their gratitude year-round.

“Volunteers are essential to the survival of nonprofits and other organizations year-round,” Lt. Governor Spencer J. Cox said. “It is important to remember needs exist beyond the holiday season and volunteers can always help. Through UServeUtah’s Holiday Service Pledge Drive, I commit to volunteer now and throughout 2018.”

Ginette Bott, Chief Development Officer at the Utah Food Bank, hopes everyone can commit to give some extra time.

“While the holiday season sees the largest donations of food, time and money, the summer months are when the Utah Food Bank and our partner agencies experience the most demand for food,” Bott said. “As a result, we need volunteer help just as urgently in the summer months as we do during the holidays.”

LaDawn Stoddard, UServeUtah director, said the Holiday Service Pledge Drive is a great way for individuals to capture the desire to serve prompted by the holidays and continue to give their time when it is needed most.

“We want to raise awareness that nonprofits have needs at all times of the year,” Stoddard said. “While we don’t want to hinder acts of kindness during the holiday season, we are encouraging Utahns to recommit to being a more active members of the community throughout the year.”
