Join us for a special event on #GivingTuesday, November 29, at Wasatch Community Gardens' Campus. We've rebranded the day "Giving Toolsday" and invite you to drop in between 3 - 7pm for a BYO garden or kitchen tool “walk-in clinic” for tips and tricks, demonstrations and hands-on tool repair, annual maintenance, restoration, repurposing and swap or donation. This is a free, drop-in community event that focuses on one of our core values, stewardship. We want to inspire people to explore more creative options than throwing items in the trash, while building a little community, and the joy of sharing knowledge and experience. This indoor and outdoor event will have stations for tool sharpening; oiling of wooden handles, chopping boards, spoons, etc; tool "hacks"; demonstrations of kid-friendly kitchen tools; tool repairs such as wobbly rakes, buckets that need new handles; tool swap or donation; and so on. In addition to Wasatch Community Gardens staff and volunteers, Salt Lake Brewing is joining us to prepare some tasty light bites in our commercial kitchen, and to shake up some "mocktails"; Animalia Reanimator is providing a sewing repair pop-up to give a new lease of life to our favorite (garden) attire; and the Bicycle Collective will be offering bicycle check-ups including repairing flat tires, checking brake and shift cables, and assessing chain wear.  If you have an unused bicycle or bicycle parts, take the opportunity to donate them to the Bicycle Collective who will refurbish and upcycle them. And, of course, #GivingTuesday wouldn’t be #GivingTuesday without a donor challenge! A group of generous donors including Toni Marie Sutliff and Gary G. Sackett, and Katherine Brown and Ellen Bloedel will match your gift, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. Please give us a jump on our fundraising for #GivingTuesday, and help us to ensure we don’t leave a dime on the table by making a gift today. Wrap up warmly as many of the activities will be outside. We look forward to seeing you.
