Executive Appropriations approved the following cultural line item requests.

  • 150 Yr Golden Spike celebration: $1 million 1x
  • American West Foundation: $7,500 ongoing
  • American's Freedom Festival: $100,000 1x
  • Ancient Human Remains Recovery and Analysis Personnel at Division of State History: $125,000 ongoing
  • Better Days 2020: $500,000 1x
  • Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program: $500,000 ongoing + $50,000 1x
  • Center for Education, Business, and the Arts: $225,000 1x
  • Center Point Legacy Theatre: $100,000 1x
  • Collections Management Personnel at Division of Arts & Museums: $90,000 ongoing
  • Days of 47 Rodeo: $200,000 ongoing
  • Film Incentives: $200,000 ongoing
  • Fine Arts Outreach (POPS): $60,0000 ongoing
  • Hale Centre Theatre - Sandy: $100,000 ongoing
  • Dept. of Heritage and Arts Artifacts and Collections Facility Study: $600,000 1x
  • Indian Affairs Structural Imbalance at Office of Indian Affairs: $75,000 ongoing and 1x
  • iSEE Student Outreach Expansion: $190,000 ongoing
  • Loveland Living Planet Aquarium new Science Learning Center: $2,000,000 1x
  • Phil Farnsworth Museum: $100,000 1x
  • Sundance Film Festival: $1,000,000 ongoing
  • WPU Value Increase: $77,059,700

 

Their final meeting is Wednesday, March 7th at 4:10pm and Utah Cultural Alliance hopes to see the following additions:

  • $500,000 ongoing to increase the Arts Sustainability Grants budget
  • The POPS groups need at least $135,000 ongoing to make the changes they need to make to their curriculum
  • Ballet West: $500,000 1x // International Touring and Choreographic Festival
  • Cache Valley Center for the Arts: $500,000 1x // Capital request for improvements to the Ellen Eccles Theatre
  • Discovery Gateway: $500,000 1x // Todd Weiler // Museum Revitalization - Exhibits and programs
  • Egyptian Theatre (Park City): $400,000 1x // Rep. Wilde // For the new black box space
  • Hale Center Foundation for the Arts & Education (Hale Center Theater - Orem): $30,000 1x // $30,000 of a $90,000 capital improvement project
  • Illuminate Festival - Utah Arts Alliance: $100,000 ongoing // Jim Dabakis // to support tech and artists associated with festival
  • The Leonardo: $175,000 ongoing // Sen. Anderegg // upgrade exhibits
  • Moab Music Festival: $50,000 ongoing // Sen. Hinkins // Artist fees, production costs, Festival costs
  • Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Dugway Proving Ground ExhibitL $82,700 // Rep. Redd // To fund exhibit by internationally acclaimed artist David Maisel titled Proving Ground, focused on Dugway Proving Ground, a classified military site in a remote region of Utah’s Great Salt Lake Desert. 
  • Salt Lake Film Society:$50,000 1x // Sen. Dabakis // educational outreach and help with ADA accessibility improvements
  • Spy Hop Productions: $1 million 1x // Val Peterson // Spy Hop Youth Media Center 
  • Utah Humanities: $50,000 ongoing // Sen. Millner // for Museum on Main Street and the educational Clemente/Venture programs ($25,000 for each)
