“If you want your child to be intelligent, read them fairytales. if you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairytales.” -Albert Einstein

Every September for the past 6 years, this wise adage has come full circle with the transformation of a theater into an enchanted castle to celebrate the wonder of fairytales. CenterPoint’s desire is to reach out to the community to say thank you for their support, to celebrate the messages of bravery, wisdom, courage, love and family in these tales and to promote the rich lessons and adventures found in the pages of a book. The festival is also an opportunity to give back. Within the enchantment of these 2 days, you can find a “Bibbidi Bobbidi Books” where children can bring a book to donate to a child in need of books and a “Wishing Well” where they can make a card to go with the book detailing why they love to read. Each year, the festival sponsors a dozen “Make A Wish” children at the Daddy-Daughter Ball, Princess Tea Parties and Wizarding 101. . There is also a performance by the theater’s resident “Friend to Friend”, a performing group for children and young adults with “remarkabilities”. CenterPoint Legacy Theatre will be holding their 7th annual Fairytale Festival Sept.13th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sept.14th from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. There are a variety of activities available at the festival, many of which are free. Live performances and interactive storytelling will be found in the “Great Storytelling Tent”, which will hold some new surprises for 2019. Also new this year is: Hero’s Quest Awaiting the children will be face painting, a bouncy castle and slide, Fairytale Carnival games, Build-a-Castle, Neverland Pirate Adventure and a variety of fairy tale crafts including fairy houses, Princess make-overs,wand making and many others. In addition, the bottom floor of the theater will host the “Once Upon a Time Participlay” where children will act out a fairytale fantasy complete with costumes. Some of the popular ticketed activities include: Princess Tea Party, where princesses will be treated to a pinkalicious tea party hosted by Mrs. Potts and attended by an array of favorite princesses. Daddy-Daughter Ever-After Royal Ball, a once-upon-a dream evening where Daddies can bring their princesses to dance, dine on sweet treats, mingle with fairytale characters and make a memory that will live happily ever after. Wizarding 101  is an escape into the world of wizards and learning the art of Defense against the Dark Arts hosted by some well-loved wizards. These activities require pre-registration and fill up quickly. Reservations can be made by calling the CenterPoint Box Office at 801-298-1302. Registration begins August 1st. We invite you to come and join the magic. As one father at the Daddy-Daughter Ball last year shared with us, “I would travel a thousand miles to see the look I saw on my little girl’s face tonight!” “That is the strength of fairy tales. They are filled with promise. The weak can be strong; evil can be turned to good; the ugly can become beautiful; Cinderella can become a princess, the frog a prince. Every human being can rise to his true stature. Even the smallest child can realize this and rejoice at future victories.” CenterPoint Legacy Theatre is located at 525 N. 400 West in Centerville.
