“A Night at Bach’s Coffeehouse”

 

Wednesday, July 12 | 8 PM

 

WHAT: As performed in sold-out concerts at Tanglewood and the BBC Proms (2015), “A Night at Bach’s Coffeehouse” featuring music of J.S. Bach and his most admired colleagues is presented by the Utah Symphony with director/harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 8:00 PM. “A Night at Bach’s Coffeehouse” is inspired by the lively coffeehouse concerts led by Bach in 18th-century Leipzig with fiery strings, colorful recorders, and a dizzying harpsichord solo. Gershwin’s Greatest Hits featuring “Rhapsody in Blue”

WHAT: Conductor John Morris Russell leads the Utah Symphony in a concert of Gershwin’s Greatest Hits featuring “Rhapsody in Blue” performed by guest pianist Kevin Cole. Also on the program are other time-honored Gershwin classics including “I Got Rhythm” Variations, “An American in Paris,” and “Symphonic Picture” from “Porgy and Bess.” Admission starts at $36 for regular tickets and $15 for youth (ages 8-18). WHAT: Broadway star Leslie Odom, Jr., winner of the 2016 Best Actor Tony Award for his performance in “Hamilton,” joins the Utah Symphony for an unforgettable performance that combines old standards—including a tribute to Nat King Cole—with Broadway and jazz hits that have his solo albums topping the charts. Subscription, group, and VIP tickets for the Deer Valley Music Festival are on sale now. Prices are subject to change and increase $5 on the day of the performance. Children 3 years of age and under are free in the General Admission section. No ticket is required. Programming and guest artists are subject to change. VIP Events and Packages 
VIP packages can include premium reserved seating, VIP parking, pre-concert gourmet dinners at Deer Valley Resort, playbill recognition, intermission receptions, and more. VENUE INFORMATION 
Deer Valley® Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater
Outside food and drink are permitted. We recommend arriving early to picnic on the lawn prior to the concert. Concessions, including options from the grill and beverages, are for sale at the venue. Gourmet picnic baskets may be ordered in advance through Deer Valley. Gates open at approximately 5:30 PM to the public. Arrive early for best seating and parking options as the venue fills up quickly for most performances.  

 

The venue is a ski hill with a base altitude of 6,570 feet and may be difficult for some patrons to walk up. There are a few sections with limited views due to grading. Volunteers can point out the best seating locations available. Chairs are provided in the reserved and ADA seating sections. Outside chairs can be brought in and used on the west side of the General Admission section, but must be low chairs that are no higher than 9” from the ground. A limited number of chairs are available to rent at the venue. These will sell out early for popular performances. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

 

Free parking is available at the venue. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. You may need to walk up to 0.5 mile from the parking lot to the venue, but you may utilize the drop off zone in front of the ticket office if you have large items like coolers. Temperatures drop significantly when the sun goes down. A blanket or jacket is highly recommended. Temperature projection: Check back on the week of the performance.

 

St. Mary’s Church 
Food and drink are not permitted in the church. Concessions are for sale at intermission. House opens approximately 30 minutes before the concert begins. Arrive early for best seating options as the venue fills up quickly and is general admission. Approximate performance time is two hours with one 20-minute intermission. Free parking is available at the venue, and wraps around the Church. Carpooling is strongly recommended to help alleviate traffic congestion. Do not park in the surrounding neighborhood: you will be ticketed.
