THE NEST HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AND ARTISAN FAIR

Enjoy holiday shopping, a local artisan fair, bake sale, a make-and-take nature craft for kids, and complimentary gift wrapping and hot cocoa. Fresh evergreen swags and centerpieces will be for sale in The Nest Gift Shop. Come early for best selection. The gift shop also features nature related books, stationary, potted succulents, toys, games, art, bird feeders, artisan jewelry and cozy clothing. All proceeds benefit the Ogden Nature Center’s mission to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.

Grab a blanket and join us for story time at the Ogden Nature Center. Every Tuesday afternoon, come read a book with us outside. We’ll dive deeper into the themes of the story by exploring the Ogden Nature Center. Please check in at the Visitor Center. No reservations needed, just drop in.
Wild Wednesday: Who’s a Buteo?

Meet Sampson, the Red-tailed Hawk while discovering what makes a buteo a buteo. Observe firsthand how buteos differ from all other raptors. Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Scavenge, save, store! Unlike humans, animals can’t run to the supermarket to fulfill their basic needs. Take part in a journey around the Ogden Nature Center to unearth the ways animals adapt to ensure survival through winter. Please meet in the
Visitor Center.
Preschool Discovery Days: Fair Feathered Friends

9:30 am, 11 am, or 1 pm
$5 members / $6 non-members
Ages: 3 – 5
Discover what makes a bird a bird as you delve into the world of beaks, wings, feathers and feet. Meet live birds of prey, hear fanciful feathered fables and make-and-take a bird craft. Our preschool programs are designed for 3 – 5 year old children. Preschool admission price includes 1 child and 1 adult. Preschool groups of 5 or more children are $5 per child/adult pair; teachers/aides are free with participating class. A non-refundable deposit of 50% must be paid in advance to pre-register groups of 5 children or more. General admission fees will apply to any additional family members in attendance. Pre-registration is required for all participants. Walk-ins will only be welcome if space is available. Please note that classes with low attendance may be canceled. How many words can you use to describe snow? Come find out as we celebrate winter. Discover how animals use snow to travel, build homes, and even hide from predators. Don’t forget your hats, gloves, and snow boots! Please meet in the Visitor Center.
Holiday Hours:
The Nature Center will close at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 23rd, and be closed Sunday, Dec. 24th through Monday, Jan. 1st. We will re-open on January 2nd and return to our regular hours. Happy Holidays everybody!
