Through work, schooling, and other channels I have been privileged enough to travel around the world and even live in a few different countries and be exposed to a variety of languages, peoples, and cultures, which all continue to amaze and fascinate me. As an artist, a linguist, a scholar of religion, and a student of the ancient world, the humanities have touched every aspect of my professional and personal life. From selling my first charcoal portrait to seeing Klimt's The Kiss in the Belvedere in Austria, from eating in a 13th century pub in Oxford to examining Moses Maimonides' own autograph in a medieval Judeo-Arabic manuscript, from walking in the ruins of Nan Madol to running from stray dogs by the prison carved into bedrock next to the Acropolis where Socrates is said to have been imprisoned, from grappling with the Castellano dialect in Uruguayan village called Fraile Muerto to translating a Dead Sea Scroll manuscript for the first time, my life has been immeasurably enriched by the arts, culture, and humanities.
