Join us for a creative, cultural, community dance event for the whole family! No dance experience required!

The daCi Utah Day of Dance is a festival for families, local and rural schools, and dance studios, to experience hands-on instruction in cultural dance forms and the creative process, allowing participants to create new dance works, and perform together. Multicultural and creative breakout sessions are taught by 13 highly qualified dance teaching artists. This event will serve over 250 participants, from babes in arms to grandparents, by building community through multigenerational dancing. On-site registration and check-in for the main event begins a half hour before the opening ceremony. Families, friends, schools, and dance studios gather together for the opening ceremony where they engage in a shared community folk dance before engaging in two 30-minute breakout sessions. These breakout sessions offer cultural dance instruction that is tailored for all levels, ages, and abilities. (There is also a visual arts class option available). After a brief snack break the participants are divided into six creative sessions where they collaborate for 45 minutes on a dance to perform at the end of the night. These sessions are directed by highly qualified teaching artists and their collaboration with the participants results in new dance works inspired by the festival theme of building community through multigenerational dancing. The event culminates with the final performance featuring the products from the creative sessions as well as guest performances. After the evening performance participants and audience members form a large circle and dance together to finish the evening.
