Contra dancing is fun, social, and active! No partner required.
During a contra dance, a caller explains the dance and walks the dancers through the figures. Then the band begins to play and the dancers move, twirl, and smile while the caller continues to prompt the dance. It's a very accessible, participatory, folk art. It's something to do, not something to watch. Come to the beginners workshop at 7:00 to learn a few figures and your ready to dance! Singles, couples, families, groups of friends, all types of enthusiastic people are welcome! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Please no perfume, so those with scent sensitivities are comfortable, too!
