Repertory Dance Theatre's Link Series presents BRINE: Intersections; a dance concert produced by Sara Pickett, Symmer Andrews and Ashley Creek in the Leona Wagner Black Box Theater in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center on Sept. 13th at 6:00 and 8:00pm and Sept. 14th at 7:30pm.
Intersections is an evening length concert featuring work from six local choreographers; Symmer Andrews, Ashley Creek, Natalie Desch, Destiny Olsen, Sara Pickett and Aimee Winn Swenson.
Andrews and Creek present The Theory of .---------.; a work that is a physical study on lines of causality and their intersections with super-string theory. Interwoven throughout are elements of everyday traffic and travel patterns crafted to take the audience on a visual journey throughout the space. Desch presents Strange Ties. This piece celebrates the bizarre and weird elements of our world and explores the healthy dysfunction existing within a fully operating and apparently “normal” system.
Olsen’s R-E-S-P-E-C-T is an exploration of women's roles, gender expectations and self-imposed behaviors of modern day times. Through dance and film, R-E-S-P-E-C-T, is an unglamorous portrayal about our current predicament as women and our place we hold in society. Swenson’s That Time recognizes that none of us are ever truly alone in our grief and reminds us that we more fully celebrate the people and experiences we grieve over when we allow others into our personal space of hardship. And Pickett’s In the collective quiet searches for togetherness within the disconnected group. The group, although occupying the same space works toward actual connected moments, even if fleeting.
BRINE was created by Andrews, Creek and Pickett as a collective to serve artists in the Salt Lake City area. BRINE works to provide opportunities for choreographers, dancers and designers to create an event that holds varying artistic visions in one concert.
Tickets are available through ArtTix. $15.00 general admission and $12.00 for students and seniors with ID. For more information, visit www.brinedance.com
This concert is presented by RDT’s LINK Series, an outreach program offering independent choreographers the opportunity to present their work in performance. RDT provides infrastructure and advisory support for production and marketing, while allowing the choreographer to retain artistic autonomy.
