GOOD4UTAH’S KIM FISCHER HONORED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ISSUES REPORTING

March 28, 2016, Salt Lake City -- Utah’s first television station, ABC4 Utah (KTVX – Channel 4) and its affiliate, Utah’s CW30, are proud to announce a special honor bestowed upon news anchor and reporter Kim Fischer. The Alliance for Women in Media is honoring Fischer with a national Gracie Award for excellence in covering sexual assault in Utah. The Gracie Awards celebrate and honor programming created for women, by women, and about women, as well as individuals who have made exemplary contributions in electronic media and affiliates.

“This is such an immense honor to be recognized alongside some of the most amazing women in media, for a topic that deserves all the attention it can get,” says Kim Fischer, ABC4 Utah News Anchor and Investigative Reporter. “Stories like this bring attention to a problem, plaguing the state of Utah. The fact that it was awarded by a group of my peers shows other journalists agree.”

“Kim continually demonstrates outstanding professionalism, fair and balanced journalistic integrity and devotion to covering these tough topics,” says George Severson, Director of News and Local Content for ABC4 Utah and Utah’s CW30. “This recognition is well deserved. We’re proud of Kim’s efforts to bring awareness to these important issues.”

“Our station truly lives by our motto, Good4Utah,” says Fischer. “We don't just tell stories, we search for solutions. That's the goal with these stories... to help end a pervasive problem. That's Good4Utah."

Fischer will be honored at a ceremony on June 27 in New York.
