Thank You!
A heartfelt thank you to all of our partners, volunteers and the ZAP Ambassadors for making the first ZAP Kids Summer Passport Program a huge success! We appreciate your creativity and willingness to be a part of the endeavor and really bring the idea to life of engaging youth across Salt Lake County with all our arts and cultural organizations have to offer. Just a few of the highlights from the program's first summer:
Kids explored 30+ arts and cultural organizations with 59 free events and ongoing opportunities across the valley
Salt Lake County libraries distributed 21,000 Passports alongside their Summer Reading Program
Over 500 explorers filled up their passport (visiting 5 different places) and attended the Final Destination Celebration with us at Clark Planetarium
Additionally, we asked participants what they learned from their explorations. Here are a couple of their responses:
"We had never been to The Leonardo or Tracy Aviary, despite being local residents of Salt Lake for many years. It was nice to experience what this community has to offer."
"[We learned] how to make a paper lantern, that Utah is the second driest state in the US, how to make a dandelion featured in Horton Hears a Hoo, and we learned about different life cycles of various animals!"
As we review the program, we look forward to learning what worked well or could be improved upon in the future, and we hope to keep you updated on opportunities to get involved next year.
