Traditionally Utah Chamber Artists launches the season with its popular Collage Concert performed in the exquisite Cathedral of the Madeleine and this year is no different. Barlow Bradford will conduct his musicians in a program called “Journeys of the Heart” on Monday September 26, 2016 at 8:00 PM. This year’s concert considers the heart’s exploration of various kinds of love – unrequited, playful and lighthearted, as well as the intense searching for divine love. Featured, is mezzo-soprano Kirsten Chavez, relatively new to Utah audiences. Ms. Chavez has been recently appointed to the vocal faculty at the University of Utah. She enjoys a worldwide reputation and has made a name for herself with her interpretation of Carmen of which one reviewer wrote, “With her dark, generous mezzo, earthy eroticism, volcanic spontaneity and smoldering charisma, Chavez has it all.”

In addition, the remarkable dancers of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company will add a new dimension to our unique Collage format and Cathedral of the Madeleine organist, Gabriele Terrone will join us. Some of the works to be performed are:

Johannes Brahms “Alto Rhapsody”
A reprise of J.A.C. Redford’s “Rest Now My Sister” premiered in 2011
Music of Vaughan Williams, Howells, and more

The concert is free of charge.
Suggested $5.00 donation.
Doors will open at 7:15 PM.
