Upcoming Classes & Workshops

Join us at the Kimball Art Center every 
Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

This is a free program that brings art to the community and inspires young children to express their creativity. Volunteers will read a book each week and lead tots in an art project themed around the story. This program is geared toward ages 3 - 5 years old but kids that are outside of that age group are welcome to participate. Parents are required to stay with their tots during the reading and art project. 

SOCK DOLL WORKSHOP FOR KIDS
Friday, February 3 
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. with Kylie Millward
Students will create a sock doll using basic hand-stitching and hot-gluing to make and decorate their very own sock doll. Learn basic hand-stitching using needle and thread. Kids will sew and stuff their doll, then decorate fun details. This class is for kids ages 6-10 years old.

FRIENDS FROM THE FOREST
Friday, February 3

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. w
ith Anna Leigh Moore
Create and learn about our friends from the forest in this class. Tots will make drawings and paper collages of their favorite woodland creatures such as foxes, hedgehogs, and bears. Walk away with a whole forest of animals to display!

Recycled Glass Wind Chimes
Saturday, February 4
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.with Jodi McRaney-Rusho
*This class is recommended for children 6+. 

 

Create a beautiful found object and recycled glass wind chime.  Several wind chime styles will be available for students to choose from and a wide selection of recycled glass beads, rings, donuts and other pieces.  Students are encouraged to bring found objects to incorporate into their wind chime.  This class is recommended for kids 6+, and both adults and kids will make their very own wind chime for display!

Wake & Draw the Figure II
Saturday, February 4
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Figure model provided.
*This class is for adults only 18+. 

Grab an easel or a drawing horse, bring a pad of paper, your preferred drawing medium, and your creativity.  A nude and/or draped model will be present to pose.  Students will work with the model to communicate positions, quick draw exercises, or extended time draws, etc., which will allow students to continue their study of the figure. There is no instructor during this open studio session, so it is suggested that students who register have figure drawing experience.

Scratch Art Glass Plates Workshop

Colorful scratch art gets all grown up! This new workshop uses specially prepared glass plates that have a rainbow of colors on the back and black on the front. Scratch a unique design through the black paint to reveal an amazing rainbow of color. Colors are heat cured with glass enamel paint, and plates will be ready for pick up approximately a week after the class and come with a plate hanger for display.

Little Picassos
Mondays, February 6, 13, 27; March 6

Expose your toddler to a world filled of fun art projects that will improve their artistic motor skills while having a blast!  Each session, students will have an opportunity to experience a different type of art media including drawing, painting, 3D sculpture, and collage.  Parents do not need to accompany children in this class, but students need to be 4 to 5 years of age. Come join the fun!
