Please explain your answer to (one or two sentences is sufficient):

I would need to study this issue. Most of the nonprofit groups use city, county, or state properties be it a black box theater or a library auditorium. However, several groups have used some public funds to build facilities on private property that are managed by that group. I would need to see how those facilities are used and if these groups are using funds wisely

Would you support a minor increase to bed or tourism taxes to fund more cultural districts in your community?

Unsure

Please explain your answer (one or two sentences is sufficient):

As a traveler I don't appreciate paying higher than normal sales taxes. While many tourists participate in arts programs I think state residents need to help fun programs like RAMP in Weber County and ZAP in Salt Lake Country. Perhaps all counties should have such options.

Last year the state legislature passed a bill (HB223 Local Historic District Amendments) restricting the creation of historical districts. What are your thoughts about historic preservation? (One or two sentences is sufficient).

Much needed. While the rights of property owner should be acknowledged, the historic character of a neighborhood should be preserved. There are cities in the USA that draw millions of visitors a year to experience historic preservation.

Have you had a personal experience with arts, culture, or humanities that has had an impact on your life? Please explain (one or two sentences is sufficient).

I played flute for fifteen years starting in junior high through college where I earned a full music scholarship at Weber State. After college I performed in community ensembles and theater groups. Attending arts festivals, performances, recitals, gallery exhibits, admiring public art installations, add to my quality of life. The arts opened vistas for me and those vistas should be available to all.
