Don Weller: Another Cowboy
Now through July 24th in our Main Gallery
Don Weller's heroes have always been cowboys. After studying fine arts, however, he reluctantly left them behind, and began a long career as a graphic designer and illustrator. His dynamic and often whimsical work appeared on record covers, posters, in advertisements, and on hundreds of magazine pages.
Weller rediscovered his love for rural lands and the world of cowboys when he moved to Utah in the 1980s, creating the ongoing inspiration for his current paintings. Working exclusively in watercolor, he expertly captures the grit of cowboys and the striking landscapes of the west.
This retrospective at the Kimball is a unique opportunity to view works from all stages of Weller's celebrated career-from sketchbooks and early illustrations to the iconic western scenes for which he is now well-known.

EVA (Elementary Visual Art) Program (in partnership with PCEF):
Abby McNulty, Executive Director, PCEF:

One of my favorite grants, in collaboration with the Kimball Art Center, provides monthly art classes in three of our four elementary schools.  A student thank you note sums it up perfectly. "I love art because we have art in the classroom once a month, and I can let my inner crazy out!"

Thank you PCEF and all of the fabulous students that we serve!
ARTS (Academic Resources for Teachers and Students) School Program:
ARTS Tours are getting ready for the 2016-2017 school year while we continue working with our summer camps in Summit County.  We look forward to visiting schools in the fall with new exhibits and lessons!
