West Elm Presents Workshops at the Craft Lake City DIY Festival

Salt Lake City, July 26 – Craft Lake City is pleased to extend its partnership with West Elm at its 9th Annual DIY Festival! New this year, Craft Lake City DIY workshops will be held on-site during the DIY Festival in the West Elm workshop Area. For a nominal fee, attendees can pre-register to participate in DIY projects throughout the weekend. Each day features a new project taught by a local artisan.

 

Note that workshop tickets include the cost of single day entry to the DIY Festival. A separate entry ticket is not required. Sign up here to purchase your DIY Festival Workshop ticket today!  

DAY 1. 
West Elm Presents Brush Lettering at Craft Lake City's DIY Festival
Instructor: Danelle Cheney of the Salt Lake Lettering Club
West Elm Workshop Area | $30 (includes Festival entry)
Friday, August 11 at6:00pm and 8:30pm

Fall in love with lettering in this beginning brush calligraphy workshop with artist and designer Danelle Cheney. Attendees will learn the basic techniques and tools of brush lettering and will apply their new skills to create a personalized keepsake. Cheney is the organizer of the Salt Lake Lettering Club, which hosts workshops and meetups for letterers of all skill levels. Note that the cost of this workshop includes single day Festival entry, a separate entry ticket is NOT required.

DAY 2. 
West Elm Presents Gold Leafing at Craft Lake City's DIY Festival
Instructor: Lisa Lewis of Light and Ink
West Elm Workshop Area | $30 (includes Festival entry)
Saturday, August 12 at 12:30pm, 3:00pm, 5:30pm, and 8:00pm

A constant creator, Lisa Lewis began Light & Ink as a way to bring nature’s beauty into everyday homes using gold-leafed objects and prints made from wood cross sections. Join us for one of Craft Lake City’s most popular workshops as we learn the basics of working with the delicate medium of gold leafing and embellish a wooden plant holder to take home. Note that the cost of this workshop includes single day Festival entry, a separate entry ticket is NOT required.
DAY 3.
West Elm Presents Macramé at Craft Lake City's DIY Festival
Instructor: Marti Woolford of Marti Makes
West Elm Workshop Area | $30 (includes Festival entry)
Sunday, August 13 at 12:30pm, 3:00pm, and 5:30pm

Local maker Marti Woolford is ready to show you the ropes of macramé! Discover basic principles, patterns, and techniques, and then create your own one-of-a-kind wall hanging. Woolford is drawn to the rhythmic and meditative flow of tyingknots, and established Marti Makes to share her love of the modern macramé craft. Note that the cost of this workshop includes single day Festival entry, a separate entry ticket is NOT required.
 
The 9TH ANNUAL CRAFT LAKE CITY® DIY FESTIVAL® will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday, August 13, 2017 from noon to 7 p.m.
