We (Ogden Nature Center) joined the Cultural Alliance for the following reasons:
1) To receive the full text of the E-Newsletter
2) To support UCA's advocacy efforts

We (Repertory Dance Theater) joined Utah Cultural Alliance in 1996 when arts and cultural groups were lobbying in favor of the 1/10th of 1% tax initiative. We believed this effort had the potential of strengthening many organizations large and small, not just a select few. Since then, the benefits of our membership in the UCA are realized in opportunities to network with statewide organizations. We also look forward to UCA forums that focus on government affairs, legislative action and trends affecting arts and culture in today's society on local and national levels. UCA is an excellent group of individuals and companies with one thing in common: our need to interact with community stakeholders whether they be private concerns or public organizations. UCA provides excellent training to stay in touch with the legislative process.

I (Robert Fass) joined the board of the Utah Cultural Alliance for two main reasons:
1. I felt that it was important for Southern Utah to be represented on the board. Too often, the arts groups here feel ignored by the Salt Lake City community. I hope to provide a voice, when possible, for the concerns we face in the southwestern part of the state.
2. As someone new to the Utah arts community, I wanted to become more aware of the arts and issues relating to the arts in our state. I was also keenly aware that my geographic location prohibited me from networking with other professionals.

I (Fran Pruyn) joined UCA for two purposes:
1. For contact and exposure to arts/cultural professionals. Having both a personal and professional agenda, it serves me to know what is going in each organization and what their plans are. Further, I feel something of a moral compunction to support these organizations whenever I can.
2. To keep in touch with the legislative interface between cultural entities and the legislature.
