1st ANNUAL BDAC
SILENT FILM
MUSIC FESTIVAL
SILENT FILMS WITH LIVE MUSIC
September 16 10 AM - 8 PM @ Bountiful Davis Art Center
$5/Film or $20/Day Pass

When silent films debuted nearly 100 years ago theaters would hire musicians to play alongside them. Bountiful Davis Art Center will re-create this experience all day September 16, 2017 from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Live pianists on two Steinway grand pianos will accompany a new movie every 45 minutes throughout the day. Over 350 young pianists coming from as south as Provo and as north as Ogden studying under 18 piano teachers will perform the score music. Seven different movies will be shown featuring Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.

Creator and Coordinator Heather K. Smith said, "I envision that this festival will appeal to families as the films are all age-appropriate, funny, and relatively short. Not only will this festival offer a performance opportunity for students but will also be a way to historically preserve silent films." Watch KUED's Mary Dickson interview Heather Smith about the festival here: https://www.bdac.org/silent-film-fest

In keeping with watching film traditions, food and drink will be sold.

Tickets are purchased online or at the door: $5 per ticket for each show or $20 for day pass. Concessions available for purchase. All proceeds will help offset BDAC's operational expenses to make it possible for music teachers to continue to rent the BDAC space at an affordable rate.
