Dance Your Way Through History

Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah: The Southern Utah University Ballroom Dance Company presents Simply Ballroom in the Randall L Jones Theatre Friday and Saturday, December 9-10 at 6:30 p.m.  with a matinee on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students, and children 5 years old and under are free. Tickets can be purchased from any company member or at the door.

This year, the ballroom dance company will take you on a journey through dance history. See classic ballroom dance styles from Salsa to the Waltz. The company consists of three performance ensembles with more than seventy student participants. This energetic group will keep you tapping your feet as you are entertained by wonderful music, beautiful costumes, and amazing formation ballroom dancing.

Jessica Alejandro, Ballroom Dance Director, said, "Simply Ballroom is an amazing family friendly dance concert that will leave the audience wanting more! Members of the ballroom dance company have been working hard to perfect these dances since September. I have had so much fun working with these incredible students. We only have two dance majors in the company which makes the company a place of inclusion for students of all majors. Make sure to come see this spectacular performance!"

Originally from Highland, Utah, Laikin Barney is a Graphic Design major who is minoring in Illustration and Dance Performance. After overcoming physical injuries, she said, “The most rewarding part of participating in this concert is simply the opportunity to dance. I feel that the community will be educated on different dance styles and history as well as enjoy the positive atmosphere!”

Don’t miss this educating and entertaining dance concert. For more information, please visit www.suu.edu/pva/ballroom.
