In order to be considered for UCA Advocacy support, your issue must meet or exceed the following considerations and be in compliance with UCA mission statement.

Criteria for determining UCA’s position:

UCA advocacy shall meet or exceed at least one of these criteria:

• Promote unity within the cultural community;
• Expand public awareness and appreciation of culture;
• Increase financial support from the public and private sectors;
• Champions access to cultural activities for all Utahns;
• Ensures public policy for culture is inclusive and equitable;
• Ensures public policy creates a balance between preservation and creativity;
• Builds relationships with constituents, elected officials, and community leaders;
• Enhances communication with our members, elected officials, and the general public.

• Fosters a sense of community through cultural activities;
• Encourages appreciation of the variety of human experience and expression;
• Supports respect for the individual in context of responsibility to the community;
• Promotes a dynamic cultural environment, which incorporates the richness of the past, the vitality of the present, and opportunity of the future;
• Nurtures collaboration between cultural organizations, government, and business;
• Advances grassroots involvement of public policy.

The Utah Cultural Alliance is a coalition of individuals and organizations representing cultural interests. UCA exists to promote the continuing viability and visibility of Utah’s cultural community through cooperation, communication, and advocacy.
